Bridge to Youth Fund

Eligibility Criteria:

Youth groups within Zone #2, Nanton, in the south; Didsbury, in the north; Strathmore, in the east; and Canmore, in the west.

Eligible groups must be willing to assist in promoting unionism in Alberta.

Eligible Programs for Members:

Youth programs that operate within Local 045 boundaries.

Application Process:

Applications must be done on the approved Local 045 form, and be legible.
Email or mail the complete application form along with supporting documents, if required, to the Local 045 Chair.
There is no deadline submission; our financial fiscal year is July 1 to June 30.
The Bridge to Youth Committee will review all eligible applications and award the funds based on the completeness and merits of the application.
Submission of an application does not guarantee funding.

Expectation on group prior to the Receipt of Funding:

Alberta Union of Provincial Employees & Local 045 Logo will be displayed on clothing apparel (sample to be supplied).
Web pages & program leaflets related to the youth group acknowledge AUPE donation
Allow a AUPE Local 45 member to speak with your group in regards to the importance of unions in Alberta.

Health Care Aide Conference

This conference is set up to assist HCA's with more training and information.  It usually is held on the first Friday in October every year.  Local 45 will provide funding for eight (8) members to attend this conference.  See Policy on Conferences for more details. An application form is in the development stage and will be available in the near future.  

Al Scott Education Fund

Eligibility Criteria:
To upgrade your nursing skills
Must be a Local 045 member

Eligible Programs for Members:
Single events (workshops, conferences, etc.) - registration fees ONLY or
Short term continuing education programs and specialty certification programs- registration, tuition and/or exam fees ONLY

The fund will not provide resources for additional costs such as books, travel, meals or lodging.

Application Process:
Applications must be made using the approved form and be legible
Send the original, complete application form along with supporting documents to the Local 045 Chair, via fax or email
Include photocopied receipts and proof of completion with your application form
Incomplete or late applications will not be considered
Course/event/workshop/program must be completed before applying for this fund
Deadline submission dates are March 31st and September 30 of each year.  Any submissions received after the deadline dates are held until the next day of review.  eg; an application received on April 1 would be held until the September 30th deadline.
The Finance Committee will review all eligible applications and award the funds based on the completeness and merits of the application
Maximum bursary per member per year not to exceed $500.00
Submission of an application does not guarantee a bursary

Funds Available:
Funds will be assessed and divided depending on the number of applicants
This amount will not exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00) per member or the amount of the interest earned on the fund whichever is greater
Education funds not allocated in year allotted to be rolled back into the Al Scott fund after AGM of Finance/Policy Committee


CLPNA Funding

Local 45 assists the LPN's in our membership to attend the CLPNA conference held in Late April Early May every year.  Please see the Policy on Conferences for further information.  An application form is in its formation stage and will be available in the near future.
